Emmanuel  Barte
Emmanuel P. Barte is a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church assigned to the United Methodist Mission Center in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Mr. Barte was posted to Cambodia in 2002 after his commissioning in December 2001. His wife Beverly and three young sons are with him in ministry as he shares with the people of Cambodia.

Emmanuel works with the community development ministries, and his responsibilities include assisting with the training of the Cambodian youth as they learn vocational skills, as well as maintaining the mission vehicles of the GBGM-UMC Mission Center. His program, ‘Faith Engine Ministry’ includes auto and motorcycle mechanics, welding, and basic driving lessons. Em, as he is fondly called, has done three short-term trainings in 2002, and each training has been faced with the challenge of where to get financial assistance to keep the trainings available. Emmanuel shares, "In God's mercy, God's provision came through faithful Christians who sent love gifts and support." By faith, Em looks forward to be able to do the trainings three to four times a year.

Emmanuel is a native Filipino, and his early years were spent working to help support his family after completing high school. He was able to learn auto/diesel mechanic skills in a machine shop, and later took a formal short-term training course. Em also worked in the community driving for Methodist families, pastors, and a local church. In 1995 Emmanuel married Beverly C. Fronda, a deaconess-pastor, and they have been blessed with three sons, Eusteem-Em Kayle, Emmanuel, Jr., and Vassilli Yevu.

Of his time in Cambodia, Em shares, "I will share with the Khmer youth the love that I have found in Christ, so that they may also realize God's love and empowerment in their lives, and expeience new life and hope."

Emmanuel is a member of Tebeng United Methodist Church in Dagupan City, Philippines. His parents, Romulo S. Barte and Angeles Parayno, remain in the Philippines. Em is the fourth of 7 siblings, and brother Romel is a Methodist pastor.

Beverly Fronda Barte
Beverly C. Fronda-Barte is a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church, serving in Cambodia at the Methodist Mission Center in Phnom Penh. Beverly was commissioned in December 2001, and began her ministry in Cambodia along with her family in 2002. Currently she coordinates Christian Education ministries, which includes assisting/facilitating with the production of educational and resource materials, training of Christian educators and teachers, and congregational development.

Prior to the birth of their third child in July 2004, Beverly taught Christian Education courses at the Cambodia Methodist Bible School. She also worked closely with a youth committee as a mentor in the initial formation of the Cambodia Methodist Youth, which was officially organized in April 2005.

Beverly served as a deaconess and Christian educator at United Methodist churches in Lingayen, Lasip, Tumbar, Bayambang, all in Pangasinan, Philippines before joining GBGM. She served as a lay pastor during five of those years, and also directed the kindergarten learning center at Bayambang UMC from 1994-2001. Beverly is now a Probationary Clergy member of the Pangasinan Philippines Annual conference (PPAC).

Born in Carot Anda and raised in Dagupan City, both in the Philippine province of Pangasinan, Beverly holds a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education (1991) from Harris Memorial College in Taytay, Rizal, and was consecrated as deaconess in 1992.

Having been active in church ministry since youth, Bev shares an experience during her time as youth leader, "I experienced God's presence and call through the lives of faithful people and various challenging events. I then committed myself to enter the church ministry as my full-time vocation." Another inspiration that she will always carry in her heart are her mother’s words, ”There will be challenges as you carry on your ministry but you should keep on….there should be no turning back. God is with you.”

Beverly and husband Emmanuel, who is also a GBGM missionary, have three sons, Eusteen-Em Kayle, Emmanuel, Jr., and Vassilli Yevu. Beverly’s mother, Tita C. Caspe, was an active UMWSCS member of First United Methodist Church in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, Philippines until her death in February 2005; her father, Elpidio B. Fronda, was also a member of First UMC until his death in 1986. Beverly is the fourth child amongst 7 siblings: one brother and five sisters.
